Solutions to Wide-set Eyes
Wide-set eyes is usually defined by an eye to eye distance greater than 30mm. Patients with wide-set eyes tend to have rounder and smaller eyes. The condition may hamper vision and result strabismus or amblyopia in severe cases.
It is common for Asians to have a small section of eyelid covering the inner corner of the eye, also known as the “Mongolian Fold”. Patients with wide-set eyes due to the presence of Mongolian folds can benefit from epicathoplasty to shorten the distance between the eyes.
On the other hand, nasal augmentation can be performed to improve the wide-set eyes caused by low nasal bridge.
